Choplifter 1-??-84

This is very close to the final version.  There are a few very minor code changes and there is still a few bits of assembly in the ROM code (SERVICE and NXTCLR).  Interestingly this version contains some custom 'screen saver' color cycling code which kicks in after only a minute or two and does not use the screen saver code built into the 5200 (which kicks in after 9 minutes).  This custom code only changes the color of the area below the score box, and not the area above, however the BIOS screen saver code is not disabled however so it will still start after minutes and run along with the custom code.  This means that the area above the score box and the area below the score box will change to different colors at different rates.

This prototype, along with the 1-4 and 1-13 versions are incompatible with the 2 port 5200 BIOS.

Prototype Differences

This prototype uses a custom screen saver code instead of the one built into the BIOS.

There is a small graphical glitch above the top of the score box in the upper left corner

The prototype does not work on the two port version of the 5200 BIOS

 

Notice the white line in the upper left corner above the score box? It's somewhat hard to see...	The custom screen saver kicks in.  Notice the area above the score box is still purple?
Now the regular screen saver code has kicked in and the area above the score box is changing color too	The rest of the game is the same as the final.
