Touch Pad Game 2-2-84

This is the earliest of the three known Touch Pad Game prototypes.  Although the game identifies itself as Touch Pad Game, the labels on the EPROMs have 2TT written on them which stands for Touch Tablet (it's unknown what the 2 means).  The latest of the three known prototypes actually has Touch Tablet on the label so the project name may have been changing rapidly.  This version of the game is very different looking from the other two prototypes and the gameplay differs slightly.

The first major difference is in the graphics.  Instead of pod shaped ships there are what appears furniture and appliances (TVs, a toaster, and what appears to be a water cooler).  Since these objects don't split apart there are also less of them on screen at any given time.  The screen is also a simple box with a hole at the bottom instead of futuristic looking cityscape.

The second major difference is that there is no energy counter but instead a timer.  The timer starts at 45 seconds and counts down to zero.  Once it hits zero the screen will flash red and the timer and score will be reset but not the objects, therefore the player can keep playing until they get all the objects into the exit.

The third major difference is in the gameplay.  In this version you cannot destroy the objects with the line, but you do score points for hitting them.  This means you cannot clear the screen by simply hitting all the objects, they must be forced into the hole.

Finally the scoring works differently in this version.  Deflecting an object is worth only 5 points instead of 10 and getting an object into the hole at the bottom is worth 100 points instead of 500.   Hitting multiple objects at once also scores differently (10, 25, 45, or 75 points)

Differences

The graphics are completely different, featuring furniture and appliances rather than pod shaped spaceships
The cityscape a the bottom is missing
The walls are white instead of blue
There is a timer instead of an energy counter
The scoring works differently
You cannot destroy the objects
There are sounds for the timer expiring and not drawing a line in time
The sound for hitting an object is lower pitched
The screen flashes red and makes a noise if the timer expires
If you press the button to begin drawing a line but don't actually draw the line in time the screen flashes green and makes a noise
The 'hold fire' feature has not been implemented yet
The exit hole at the bottom of the screen is not centered and is wider

Only you can destroy the evil office furniture!

Mind the timer!

The game is pretty bare bones at this point

Game over!
