Touchdown Football 5-7-88

This is a very early beta for Touchdown Football that was compiled from source code found on an ST development kit hard drive.  While the main game engine is there, the game is very bare bones and is missing most of the game play.  There;s no title screen or options, there are no sounds or music, there is no computer opponent, all of the plays are the same, and best of all there's no throwing or kicking (selecting kick will actually crash the game)!  That's right, all you can do in this early prototype is run with your quarterback and hope you get a touchdown.  If you do manage to score a touchdown the game will immediately turn the ball over to the other team because there's no field goals implemented yet either!   The scrolling in this early prototype is also incredibly slow and choppy.

Prototype Differences
There is no title screen.  The game starts automatically
There are no options

There is no sound or music

The player graphics are different
The player colors are different.  The Home team colors are blue and darker blue while the Visiting teams has black helmets instead of white
There are stands with a crowd above the field
The back wall graphics are constantly bouncing up and down
Due to the addition of the stands there is less grass at the top of the field
The letter Q in quarter is shaped differently
There is no coin toss or kick off, the game starts at the 20 yard line with the Home team on offense
The game is always set to two players, there is no computer opponent
If the player on offense selects all their options before the player on defense selects their option the play will start anyway
The screen scrolling is incredibly slow and choppy
Selecting the Kick option crashes the game
The timer doesn't count down
There is no 30 second clock
There are no time outs, the switches do nothing
There are no point after kicks
There are no field goals
There is no way to kick or throw the ball, you can only run with your quarterback
You cannot change your play after selecting it
Although you can select different plays they're all the same
There are no graphics for tackling.  The players will simply touch each other and stop
The grass is a darker green
The HUD text is white instead of yellow and the boarder is a darker yellow
The football is brown instead of yellow
The Home team play selection box is white instead of blue
The Visiting team play selection box is light blue instead of white

Very different looking players

The crowd in the stands is a nice touch
