Tower Toppler ?-??-88

This is a late beta for the XE version of Tower Toppler.  This prototype has been circulating the internet since the early 2000s although its origins are unclear.  It was long thought that this was the final version of the game until the source code for a later version was found in 2026.  While fully playable this version is missing the nicely colored title and text screens of the final version and uses the same Mode 8 graphics that the main game uses to display them.  This results in far less colors and artifacting, making the text somewhat hard to read.  This version also has a few bugs left in it.

Prototype Differences
The title screen is very different and has a different logo
The copyright is 1988 instead of 1989

All the text screens (high score, start and end of game, end of of round score tally, etc.) use Mode 8 graphics with artifact colors

The towers shown on the start of level screen are different heights depending on how high they are in the actual level.  In the final version they're all shown as being the same height.
The towers on the start of level screen are solid colored instead of being made of bricks
The mine enemy that rotates around the tower has corrupted graphics
The bonus round has a bug in the parallax scrolling where the layers will speed up and slow down depending on how much is going on on the screen.
The bottom of the tower at the end of the bonus level is brown instead of gray
The difficulty level has been adjusted in some spots
There is a line that appears across the bottom of the screen.  This line seems to move up and down depending on the action occuring on the screen.  This line is in the overscan area and is not visible on a real TV.
