Dig Dug

Original System: N/A

Much like Centipede, Dig Dug was originally an Atari 400/800 that was completely reprogrammed instead of being ported.  However, unlike the Atari 5200 version of Centipede, the Atari 5200 port of Dig Dug was eventually ported back to the Atari 400/800.  It's unknown why Atari decided to 'back port' Dig Dug and not the other games that had been redone for the 5200.  Other than the standard control and OS mapping changes, no changes were made when the 5200 version was ported to the 400/800.

The original 400/800 version of Dig Dug is fair for an early effort, but looks clunky compared to the arcade game.  Dig Dug himself looks rather large and square, and the game plays slightly differently (you can't shoot through thin walls or ghosts for example) which could frustrate people familiar with the arcade version.  The 5200 version suffers from none of these issues and is one of the better home ports.
