James Bond 007

Original System: Atari 5200

Released on many different systems of the time, James Bond 007 originally started out life as James Bond in Octopussy (the then current Bond film) and was a completely different game involving a gun fight on a train car. This version went unreleased and this Moon Patrol-esq game was quickly developed and released in its place to lukewarm reviews.

The Atari 400/800 and 5200 versions of James Bond are almost identical with the exception of the title screen and intermission screens. The Atari 5200 version is missing the <option> and <select> text next to the options since the 5200 uses # and * for those functions, but oddly doesn't display that text in its place. The text for the difficultly level is also shown in inverse on the 400/800 version instead of plain text as in the 5200 version. The 5200 version is also missing the lives counter on the intermission and intro screens showing how many Bonds you have left. It's unknown why this is, but it could just simply be an omission that was fixed in the 400/800 release.
