Moon Patrol 6-26-83

This prototype is from the period where the rover was switching from the tank design to the final buggy design. The rover looks like it's final design, but the player and lives icons still use the old design.  This version is closer to the final version, but now adds an odd buzzer noise for when you cross a checkpoint that was changed by the next prototype.  The option for three different speeds has not been implemented yet.

Prototype Differences
The option for three speeds has not been implemented yet so the right difficulty switch does nothing.  The game only has two speeds.
The game sometimes doesn't register that the player has pushed up to jump if done rapidly.
The buggy explosion Sound is different
The lives icon still shows the old player design
The level and player select text will sometimes turn white instead of orange after pressing select.
Instead of showing 1P and 2P for one or two players, this version displays one tank or two tank symbols still using the old design
There is an odd buzzer sound made every time the checkpoint x scrolls off the screen
The music is louder
The noise for getting the Bonus is different.  It consists of three short buzzer noises similar to the checkpoint sound mentioned above
When you fail to get a Bonus, there is no sound or text displayed.
The word Bonus is off center.
The left difficulty switch for music on/off is reversed (A=off / B=on)

Rockets appear on the Champion Course

Note the old style lives icon

Mines!

The old style is also on the player select screen
